An international M&E contractor is hiring an EHS Advisor to guide Environment, Health and Safety inside the project team in Sweden. The role may be full time on one project or across several, with frequent travel and occasional overnight stays.

About the role

An international M&E contractor is hiring an EHS Advisor to provide Environment, Health and Safety guidance inside the project team. You will implement and maintain the company management system on the project, coordinate EHS matters across the project management teams, and report to the Project Manager. Working under the direction of the EHS Manager, you will lead the day to day EHS requirements of the assigned projects.

The role may be full time on one project or across several. It requires frequent travel between projects, with occasional overnight stays. You must already be able to work and travel freely in Europe. No visa sponsorship. Permanent, with a 5+ year portfolio of works.

What you will do

  • Advise management, safety representatives, employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and site visitors on EHS
  • Prepare the project EHS Plan, induction, and RAMS with the site team before works commence, and keep them current
  • Carry out internal audits and site inspections, agree corrective and preventive actions, and document findings
  • Set up site safety files (Series 500 and 600), registers, abstracts of regulations, posters, and the SEOR programme on each new project
  • Review contractor appointments and make sure only competent contractors are used
  • Make sure incidents are reported and investigated to root cause
  • Report on EHS risks, KPIs, and trends, including the monthly KPI report, site visit schedule, SEORs, and violations
  • Identify training needs, deliver training, and issue records to HR for the training matrix
  • Attend regional EHS coordination meetings, the EHS meeting with the Business Unit Manager, and site safety and coordination meetings
  • Implement the company incentive scheme, manage first aid provision, monitor PPE, and issue non conformances and commendations

What you will need

  • 3+ years in a similar industry, with knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and CSA preferred
  • Diploma to NFQ 8 in occupational health and safety, and a certificate to NFQ 6 in environmental management
  • Safe Pass or CSCS, Train the Trainer, First Aid, and Training Instructor
  • Internal ISO 14000 and ISO 45000 system auditor
  • Experience with Construction Regulations, CDM roles, and subcontractors
  • Experience with EHS management systems, safety schemes, and tendering such as ISOs, Achilles, and SSIPs
  • Able to prepare audits and EHS reports to a high standard, and to work to strict deadlines
  • Up to date with legislation, standards, and compliance
  • Able to lead incident investigations using root cause analysis
  • IOSH member or equivalent
